Blow Off on a S/C

Im new to the whole tuning and forced induction scene. I been putting prices together and figureing out which route i would like to take. I was origanally gonna go with a Garrett TC kit but the price alone is hard to get past, then i heard they dont even have a tune for 08's with this kit? The main reason i am writing this tho is my cousin recently put a SC on his scion TC and somehow put a BOV or similar device that gives it a whoosh and not a whine. I was wondering if there is anyway i can do this with a m62 supercharger? thanks in advance

yea my buddy had a rabbit with the G60 suppercharged motor in it, and he attached the same BOV i have to it.
i have a Performance Import Trends BOV
but with the TC kit, HP Tuners is coming out soon and that will support your car, and Vince at Terifica can tune your car too
but i dont know how they did it sorry

the m62 comes with a boost bypass valve .... there is no point in placing a blow off valve on a roots supercharger.

If im not mistaken.

IT is impossible on ROOTS type superchargers.

either way it serves no purpose.

You CAN put a BOV on a SC car, but the question is why? What they may do is put a device that "simulates" a BOV sound. By actually putting a BOV on a SC car you are venting your boost pressure therefore reducing compression and HP so I am not sure why you would want to do it.

Ill try to get pictures uploaded of his engine with the valve on his supercharger. will the bypass valve have any hint of a whoosh sound on a cobalt, i seen a probe on youtube with the m62 and had a turbo sound to it but all the cobalts i seen are WHINE. = = just trying to get a cool sound without spending 3grand on a garrett kit =/

im not in it for the power ;] i just want the sound more or less. power gets me into trouble.

For a cool sound, I don't think you'll want to look into forced induction at all...save your money and buy one of those cheap ebay things that screws onto your exhaust that will make the sound.

You can do it if the supercharger is remote mounted.

ur cousin probably has the TRD procharger kit on his tC. that would be the only way to have a BOV on a supercharged engine

Only centrifigal(sp?) superchargers can have BOV's.

You can only place a BOV between the device making boost and the throttle body. Since the roots style blower is located after the throttle body. No boost before the throttle body means no BOV can work.
