A/c delete pulley?

I've spent a bit of time searching myself for one, but before calling it a total loss and their not being one out there, does anyone know of a place that sells one that I may not know of?

I can't just use a shorter belt either, I need something in place of the A/c compressor to run my M62. Thanks for any help guys.

if he doesnt use/need his a/c thn its dead weight...ac compressors are heavy...good 20+pounds, and a small custom pulley would be better than the big ass ac one...to each there own, kinda how hoda guys like to get rid of their power steering

go to a machine shop and have them fab a custom bracket up for you. then just mount a small lightweight pulley to it

My eco swap doner car for my 99 didn't come with the A/c, and I don't want to have to buy an A/c compressor JUST to have it only act as dead weight. Lol...

I passed a little memo along to clayton at LZM since on ecotecforums. He's got a what would you like to see made section. I know there are other guys who have ditched their a/c and could benefit from one of these. A/c came standard on the j-bodies with the eco's. So GM never made a delete pulley.

We'll see what happens tho.

cant you just drop the AC heat exchanger, and let the condenser just sit. it may be an extra 10lbs that your lugging....but there are much cheaper ways to lose 10 lbs from your car. also, it provides no rolling resistance without it being full of freeon, so theres no HP loss either

What A/c condenser?

I got something bigger and better than a darn A/c Condenser taking up space up front...

One out of 30 made in the United states exclusively for the J-body platform. Muhahahaha!

But in all reality I may just snag the compressor from the junk yard off an ecotec and just let the bitch free spin. I doubt I am really going to feel like fabbing up an a/c delete pulley once I get the car back together, let alone running. Been torn down for over a year now and i'm having with drawls already from not being able to drive her.

sorry for asking, but what was your reasoning for entirely ripping her apart? lol

you should make it like a srt4 i saw. racing seats, body roll bar, racing harnesses, rear seats delete, carpet delete. high drag spoiler delete. those things can get mighty light with little work. lol

If I had a stock a/c compressor, i'd take it to work and make up a bracket off of it. The pulley would be up to you though, I don't know where you would find an idler that big.

Mantapart makes/made an a/c delete pulley. Never seen one in person, and they have a 50/50 rep, some people love them, other people loathe them, doesnt seem to be a middle ground. Maybe someone has one laying around.

You shouldnt need an a/c pulley for a turbo

yup, damn u come to the rescue again lol

OP 4519EC ECOTEC 2.2 TC A/C Eliminator Pulley Kit: This special cast bracket and pulley assembly replaces the complete air conditioning compressor on your engine to remove the extra weight and load of the a/c system. It frees up HP and makes the belt system more reliable. Combined with the crank power pulley kit it will give a nice power increase on most stock and more on modified engines. Note: Your a/c system can not function if you make this modification.

OP 4519EC $75.00

I wouldn't ever trust my $$ in mantapart/ RSM/ ZZ spec or w/e the hell they are called these days.

I found an A/c compressor for $15 at PNP, don't think they charge me right, but w/e. Their loss... ha ha.

Reason the whole car is gutted is for the pre-00 eco swaps require the whole car to be re-wired to GM's class II wiring. I founded a totaled 2003 sedan that was in a roll over, and bought it for about a Grand. Gutted that, but in the process I am fixing any spots on the car which have rust from being drove in the winter for a few years here in NY. Its a nightmare, but there are only a handful of people who have successfully done these swaps due to all the work involved.
