car has problem starting dealership didn't do anything
i took my car to the dealership saturday to get it looked at. Sometimes it doesn't want to start, it turns over then just dies. and it was there for about 3hrs and they couldn't replicate the problem so i have to wait untill something breaks, or i get stuck somewhere
i'm thinking its just the starter but anyone else think it might be something else?
now that you mention it. A few times this last week my car turns over a few times then stops. then turn the key and it works. is that what you mean? so far i haven't thought anything of it cuz im still used to the **** car i used to have before this. lol
The starter ONLY spins the engine over, if its doing that then it is NOT NOT NOT the starter! Sounds more like a sensor issue to me. Now be it the mass air or the TPS that I can't say. But if she's spinning your starters good.
yeah the starter does sound like its working just the engine isnt turning over
Accualy mines been doing it every time for a few days. I start it it jumps up to 2000 rpms when it fires then acts like its ganna idel down but just keeps dropping till bout 250rpm's then gose right back up to 1500 rpms or so then dose the same thing only it dies instead of recovering at 250 rpms. sometimes it doesnt recover it dies the first time. its throwing a code refering to the purge selinod valve.
Vacuum leak, possibly.
Or a fuel pump, if it takes a long time to fire.
My Camaro lost a fuel pump, it would take 2 minutes of solid cranking to even get the car to barely sputter to life - oh, and my foot was too the floor, on the gas.

Turn your key on and you can hear the fuel pump run for about 2 seconds. Let the pump run and turn off before trying to start the engine. If that works, ask the dealer to look at your fuel system for leak down. Also Check for DTCs with a scan tool to see if your car is diagnosing a problem.
