Cel

Im looking into getting exhaust put on my 2.2 LS. So my Dad talked to one of his friends who works in the maintenance dept. at Nash Chevrolet in Ga who told him that i should only get the GMPP exhaust because any other exhaust would not maintain the proper backpressure and would cause the CEL to stay on. Is this a load or does it hold truth?

I grew up about 5 min. from Nash Chevrolet and my Mom has purchased 3 cars from them. I also worked at the Pontiac dealership on HWY 316 and Collins Hill road. From what I have heard about that dealership, I would not trust a word they say.

BS. No matter what you do to these cobalts you're going to get a cel. There are already a couple of threads on here with guys who just have GMPP done and they have CELS. WTF

I still have yet to hear from someone putting an exhaust system on their car and it throwing a CEL...I haven't gotten one yet myself either, even with my intake.

Awesome thanks for the replies. You pretty much confirmed my beliefs concerning the cel.

that sounds completely cat related to me...nothing to do with the exhaust

I have an intake and exhaust setup and no cel on my Ion either

after some research on j-body.org there are only a select few high flow cats you can purchase for your 2.2, the rest will throw a code.

not to mention the link to the thread posted above is for an SS/SC, those cars will throw a CEL if you sit in them the wrong way
2.2's are much better accepting to mods

Not to mention the guy said he had around 2,000 miles with that exhaust installed...
