A few weeks ago after i shut my car off i heard a pretty loud clunk noise come from the engine bay. Now everytime i shut my car off i hear the noise. It only happens a few seconds after a turn the car off. Anyone else have this problem or ever heard of anything like this?

 

take a video if you can. because i honestly have no idea what ur talking about and have never heard of this.

 

My fuel pump makes a clunk a few seconds after I shut the car off but it's under the trunk not the engine bay.

sounds kinda like a backfire almost, no check engine lights?

 

Nothing. And it only happens when i shut my car off.

Mine does it to. I think it has something to do with the compression stroke and where it stops maybe, like it stops just as the valve opens and it just the last bit of air escaping the cylinder. I wouldn't worry about it I've heard lots of cars do it.

 

I though that it could maybe be that. I just find it weird that 2 weeks ago out of the blue it started making that noise everytime.

 

the little valve the releases the pressue starting to get dirty or clogged and its making noise now or it cold out maybe...

 

Donno if this woudl help but run that fuel system treatment stuff through your car. you can get it at walmart, autozone, advanced auto parts, places like that. run your tank almost empty. put that stuff in there and then fill up. it cleans out your injectors and helps clean out the cylinders. i run it about every 10k miles through my car. idk if it owuld cure this. but couldnt hurt also.

sounds like the throttle plate..probably louder than normal because of your intake

 

Agreed. Mine has done it since having 4 miles on the car.

 

Take it to a gm dealership and ask a mechanic to listen to it and see what they say.

 

They will prob charge me $50 just to do that. But its better then letting it go if something is wrong with the engine.
