Cobalt 2.2?

I was at the dealership today and saw that they now stock Cobalts, I was pretty stoked. I looked around and saw a Cobalt SS S/C in the side but they were offering ~24,000!!! Seems a little TOO much for it. But they had a wide selection of LS/LT models. They averaged at 15k with, I think, all the options (including auto transmission). But there was one that was the base of base cobalts. No options, just manual everything, and it was priced at about 12-13k. Unfortunantly reality is kicking me and I think i will be settled with this (which i don't mind at all). What I'm curious is how is the modability of the 2.2? If anything, my goal is to try to get the highest hp without forced induction.

Thanks!

well, from what i've read on here the 2.2 is very easy to work with and very mod-able... one big thing to consider is that if you're ever going to want power windows, you should do it now... someone here was trying to do it and it turned out to be a big pain in the ass....

There was that show on Speed TV (name slips my mind at the moment) and they turbo'd the 2.2 and came out with some nice numbers.

I'd also suggest checking the 2.2l Performance section under Engine Technical Discussion. Best of luck with your Cobalt, whichever trim you decide.

The show you are thinking of is Tuner Transformation. They did some really basic stuff to it and got pretty good results all around.

i would be wary of getting the BASE BASE model LS, the one with the sports package seems to have higher MPH on the dash and top out later then the BASE BASE. try and get one with the 16' alloys.

when i say wary, i dont mean its a bad car, still an awesome car if you plan on modding it its just nice to be able to hit 130 + then to be only able to hit 105.

This issue will be resolved when tuned PCMs become available. You just won't know how fast you're going over 120.

I'm still keeping my eye out on other cars, new and used. My price range is like under 14-15k.

Well i got the base base model and i love it.. it doesn't have power windows, but i got a alarm and power locks put in. Not having power windows isn't all that bad it sucks when someone is next to you in the next lane and you have to drive steer and roll down the window. But when i got my car that was the only ones they had was the base, i seen a ls they're but i think someone took it b4 i came back.... but in all i'm kinda glad i did get it because they don't make base anymore. I think they just call it ls now.
