should be..

i mean even if a little water gets off your wheel, finds its way down in your bumper, behind your fender well, thru the hydro shield, thru the filter (unlikely), up the hot pipe (most likely will vaporize by then), through the tb, intake manifold, past your burning hot valves (most likely vaporized by this point), im sure it wont damage your engine when mixed with other hot gases.

i mean just think about it..

Whatever you do, just dont get a Fujita intake. FYI, Weapon R intakes come with a free ram air kit that you took up straight to the filter. Check out there website.

I think I will end up just going CAI.

It'll be better for times when I drive around longer, since the SRI would seem to get heat-soaked after a while, plus I really don't want to fabricate anything right now. I have the skills, but I don't have the drive to do it at this point in time.

So, I'm considering the JDM intake (which has instructions, right? If not, would AEM instructions work?), and just throwing a K&N filter on the end with the hydro shield.

Sound like a plan?

yeah, just dont waste your money on a bypass valve. they hardly work. ive seen water go right thru them and destroy the engine.

You don't need a heat shield if you're going full CAI, right?

I found a 6" tall K&N cone filter, will that fit (3" diameter inlet)?

yeah dont need a h/s if you're going cai

i'd recommend an aem dryflo, they're like $49 + shipping, and last i saw there was one in our classifieds for $45 shipped. dunno if its sold. the whole oil on the maf thing is a myth unless you WAY over-oil it but with the dryflo you dont even have to mess with oil at all.

I've oiled K&Ns before.

The K&N filter is like $32 + shipping.

Summit Racing by K&N FTW.

i thought you needed a hydro shield specifically for a CAI and not for an SRI. do a dryflo and hydro shield go on the same spot on the intake?

The hydro shield goes over the filter.

Dryflow is just a kind of filter that doesn't use oil.

You don't need a hydro shield for the SRI.

well im planning on going with the jdm CAI (if they get them in stock soon), so i am going to need a hydro shield. right? Also, i am going to need a filter because the jdm doesn't come with one, so i am wondering where you found that K&N filter for $32 or whatever. it doesnt seem to be that cheap on summit racing

Summit Racing.

It's a Summit filter - K&N makes it.

Basically here's the difference:

Filter: Both K&N

Box: Summit's is a plain cardboard box, K&N is the flashy K&N box.

Same thing.

So 6" wouldn't be to "tall" of a filter, right?

h/s = heat shield, not hydro shield. sorry
i would recommend putting heat wrap on the tube though, it will help keep the air cool all the way into the intake mani
