Dam water!

Dam water!
Well upstate, NY got some freezing rain/ sleet last night, so this morning college was closed!! So I went out started the balt up, scraped the ice off and took it for a ride to the bank and stuff, it was still sprinkling out a lil. So I get to the bank, shut it off, go in, come back out, start it up and started to go and I went uh-oh... the throttle response was slim to none. Now I made sure I didnt hit any water puddles so this didnt happen but it happened anyways. So I had to limp back to my house(only a mile or so) and pull it in the garage rip the fender liner off and the whole compartment where the filter was is bone dry WTF? Then I saw that water was coming down from the headlight right onto the filter! So the top side of the filter was damp and the bottom was dry. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? Maybe make a shield to go over the filter so the water doesnt come down on it?Right now I have the filter drying out and have to take my moms 2003 Mitsubishi Galant to work... ugh.. auto... Any suggestions would be great.

Lots of people don't like the fact of K&N oiled filters but with my typhoon intake it came with a hydrashield or whatever they call it and I've had no problems whatsoever and I've had it installed since sept. '05. Also, had huge downpours yesterday and tractor trailers flying past me and soaking the area that the intake houses in and still bone dry.

Only real suggestion is to buy a hydroshield ($20 or so), dry the filter off, remove the filter, try and remove some water in your pipe...but be careful not to hit your maf.
It will go away in time. I accidently left my gas cap undone and open when i went through a car wash....
Car drove like **** for about 1 tank of gas, but after that it runs fine.

Thanks guys. The filter is bone dry now thanks to my heater/ hair dryer. No water the the piping, already checked. Have to take a ride to Autozone or Advanced to see what they have and see how my baby runs...
