difference between 05-6 and 07-8 L61

So I realize ther is an ignition difference between the two motors. the older having the ignition module and coils in the center section of the VC and the 07-08 having the COP design from the LE5. Other than that are the motors interchangeable? or is there a difference with EGR or something along those lines?

Thanks for nay help guys.

I know my 07 has a cam position sensor which makes it impossible for me to get the comp cams.

It's on the cam itself or something like that.

07+ had a more ported out exhaust manifold.

Nope. Not without a ton of work. I know somewhere on here there's a guy who put an 07 head on an 06 and rewired the car to run an 07 ECM so he could run HPTuners.

I was just about to mention that that one guy did that. It's somewhere in a build thread. I believe he did press in that sensor.

heres the deal. im not trying to run an 07 PCM in an 06. I have the 2007 car. I can get an 06 motor for it cheap. if all I have to do is swap the sensor out and the cam, then that's not that hard, im not rewiring the car like the other guy did...
