On the Ecotec there is no sensor. It is done through electrical feedback. I'M WONDERING IF MAYBE YOU COULD SHED SOME MORE LIGHT ON THIS P0340 ON MY COBALT!? AS I'M JUST BOUT TI PUSH IT OFF A CLIFF !
SO.. IVE BEEN FOOLING WITH RHIS CAR FOR 2 MINTHS NOW REPLACING PARTS.. FAILING SMOG CHECKS ETC
SO I HAD REPLACED THE ICM WITH ONE FRIM THE DEALER.. AS THAT WAS THE ADVICE FROM A MECHANIC. I KNOW )HE LIVES IN A DIFFERENT STATE) SAN BEFORE THAT I REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR..PURGE VALVE PLUGS WIRES..ETC.. ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER THE NEW AC DELCO ICM.. BUT DUDNT LAST FOR LONG.. CAME BACK ON.. THEN AFTEE A FEW TIMES OF STARTUNG IT.. IT FINALLY JUST QUIT IDLING.
SO IT SAT A MINUTE.
THEN I PUT THE OLD ICM BACK IN IT.. AN TO MY SURPRISE.. IT IDLED.. AN STILL DOES.. I BOUGHT A CAM SHAFT SENSOR FOR IT.. AN RGE ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS INSISTING IT HAS ONE.
AN IVE SEEN AN READ THAT IT DOES HAVE ONE.. BUT LOOKED IN THOSE PLACES THEY DESCRIBED.. AN HAVNT FOUND IT YET .
WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS WHY WOULD IT KEEP THROWING THE CODE (THAT IT HAA ONE) IF THIS MOTOR DOESNT HAVE ONE ?!
AN MY BIGGEST QUESTION.. . IS. I HAVE 5 DAYS OR LESS TO GET THIS CAR SMOGGED -YET I'M STUCK CONFUSED..AT MY WITS END. AN DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ! AFTEE PUTTING A GRAND INTO IT... I CANT AFFORD TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC EITHER!!
IF U HAVE ANY IDEAS..THOUGHTS.. ADVICE..
I'D BE MORE THAN THANKFUL!
(note... I'm a female an have limited knowledge on this subject...lamens terms is best)
