Is this the kind of craftsmanship we can expect from the "Super Secret" build?

Not trying to be a dick, well maybe a lil, but how can you not afford a catback and are going to build some super awesome car in your garage?

Craftsmanship good for the cheap muffler I got. Shop couldnt have done it any better. Its my DD now anyway, not putting anymore money into it. As for the project you'll see at the end of April, I'll put up a sound clip when I get off of work

I coulda welded real hangers on it. Then again, I'm a damn good exhaust fabricator too. I don't see how you couldn't have put a big 5x8x18 Magnaflow on there with maybe a 4x18 Magnaflow resonator. That wouldn't be very loud at all and still sound damn good imo. Oh well..........as long as you're happy. Post pics with the tip on.

Doesnt matter how good you are, its cheap metal. Less than 24 gage, would have burnt a hole right through it. I could have welded a hanger to the tip, but then it wouldnt have fit the way it is. I could have put a magnaflow on there, but they werent less than 60 bucks like the universal one was. Cheap one measures 27" long, quietest one they had.

at this thread. OP, first attempt looks like ass, 2nd..ok i can live with that. I understand where your comming from though. My Bugeye has a 90$ ebay catback as its my DD and didnt want to purchase a $500.00+ exhaust for it. Sounds the same and fit and looks great!

Trust me when I tell you that I COULD have welded them on that muffler. Ever used a TIG machine? I have a big semi-industrial 300A MIG machine that I do the brunt of my exhaust/metal fab with and a nice little 165A TIG machine for delicate/thin/exotic metals. I've welded on worse, and why on earth would you put one on that's made so cheaply? It's gonna rust out within 4-5 months from the inside. I know how it is being on a budget.....hell, look at my sig to see how much I've spent on my little POS.....lol.

Cheap but still stainless, and has a 5 yr warranty. You send me a pic of you welding a hanger onto a pop can and I'll believe you. We weld stators for GE at my shop, so its nothing new to me.

Got the 2 comparison videos of the fart can, and the Universal muffler. Tip is just a basic 3" stainless turn down

Before
(Jmesl8er)'s 2.2L, Pacesetter Header, 2.5" straight pipe, Cat delete, Resonator delete, Ebay muff - YouTube

After
New muffler, quiet - YouTube

You should have angled the tip upwards so you can shoot all the haters with water when it rains.

Ok, first of all, it's too damn quiet now.......LOL. Second, the tip just doesn't look at home in that big empty spot. Third, you can't weld steel to aluminum. Non-ferrous doesn't weld to ferrous. I have welded as thin as 20ga SS and I can guarantee that muffler is at least 18-16ga material. It should be double layered too. What brand is it?
That's cool you work at GE. Would like to get my hands on stuff like that.

I still dont think its quiet enough, lol. I drive 70 miles a day, my ears would be ringing all day.
I didnt say anything about welding steel to alu., they make alu. hangers. Its a real cheap universal no name muffler, trust me its smaller than 20gage.
Have to make due with this tip till spring, Ill probably just put new exhuast from the axle back, put a resonator and different muffler back on
