fuel pump issue

story time:

a few days ago, i get off work, ready to leave town for the weekend. i hop into my car, and go to fire the car up. it tries to turn over, but just wont. i try again, still nothing. i sit back, puzzled, and hop out of my car. as soon as i step out, i smell gas, and some girl walking by tells me that something is leaking from the back of my car. sure enough, its gas. so i flip ****, call people, and finally get it towed to the dealership. the supposed problem was that a part was broken in the fuel pump modulator. just thought i'd share this and see if anyone has had the same problem, and to warn everyone.

well, got the car back today, i guess that particular part is above the gas tank, some little plastic piece, so something must have come up off the road and hit it just right for it to break. so no worries on a manufacturer problem, but it was still covered on the warranty.

exactly what peice broke.. or failed? If it was above the gas tank I SERIOUSLY doubt a rock or something is the cause. I've dropped our tank before and it'd be pretty tough to get a rock or something up in there.

i think it said fuel pump modulator... something to that effect. i thought it was kinda bogus too, about something getting up that far, but i have no idea what else could have happened. i dont take my car off jumps or anything. maybe it just crapped out.

did a line break off or a seal break or something?

Chances are you got a bum unit or it was assembled wrong out of the factory or something. As long as they fix it ur golden I guess. I'd try to coax some free gas outta them though. That ****'s expensive.

yeah, it was a fuel pump module, some piece above the gas tank. they fixed it up, filled up what little of the tank was gone (i had it full when the issue happened) and the car runs like before. very pleased with the service and such as well, but chevy seems to take care of their customers.
