Getrag Manual Transmission

Hey everyone,

Im a little confused on which way to go with performance because I was told that the Getrag transmission is not made to safely support more than 180hp? Can someone explain to me then why so many 2.2's are using turbos and sc's then? Isnt it super risky?

the trans can hold around 250hp+ i believe

isnt the trans the same in the 2.2 as the 2.0??? GM Stage 3 puts them at 230+

well they're not really the same... gearing's different.

Not all getrag's are built the same. whoever told you getrag doesn't build a tranny that safely supports more than 180hp was talking out their ass.

I beat my car up and tranny seems to be holding up so far. I will be testing the limits of the F23 tranny here in the next month or so with the procharger setup. We will see if it can handle 400whp, give or take. =P

you won't need a CAI because the garrett kit comes with an intake to the turbo and it wouldn't make a different if it was cold air or not because the turbo is going to heat the air no matter what. the turbo is essentialy your new "intake" . if you were to do internals just doing that won't change the hp of your car. it will do nothing but strengthen the engine. you will need to up the boost and retune to acheive 280hp. I wouldn't be able to tell you cuz psi is irrelivant. its different on all turbos

so basically what is being said here is that the stock tranny and clutch can hold 200/220 hp/tq that hahns turbo kit offers?

and i wanna know, for future reference, when to replace clutch with a higher stage and what else would need replaced for 250/280 hp/tq (rough estimates)

It should hold more if you are a good driver.
