GMPP dealership ripoff

So, I had my oilchange today, and wandered over to the parts department. I asked about the GMPP intake. Well, after like 15 minutes of this dingbat searching the internet, his buddy found the part number and told him.

Their price is 275$ plus tax. I was kinda hoping it would be in the general ballpark of crateenginedepot, but obviously not. ARGH.

Unless you have a friend in the parts department, you probably won't beat Crateenginedepot prices.

X infinity! I used to work for GM and I checked his pricing, he sells stuff for juuuuust above cost! I seriously do not know how he makes any money. BUT I'm glad he's here.

Just tell them that u can get one for XXX amount of money, they will look it up, and if ur right, they should price match it. Thats what my local dealership did on a couple of items.

My dealer is pretty good. When I got my cobalt, he said "we generally sell cars at $200 over cost, so that's what I'm offering".

They guy mumbled something about "300 something, and cost is something, so it will be 275 plus tax"

They are not ripping you off. That is what the retail price of the kit is. Crateenginedepot.com sells them at a discount because they have a wholesale account with G.M.

Yes, now that would be a ripoff; evidently there is a lot of room for dealer markup on this stuff. $275 is comparatively reasonable by comparison.

^^ It doesn't matter anyhow since it's a bolt-on. Your warranty is never voided for a catback or intake.

Seriously, order it from Tom @ Crate Engine Depot. They have awesome customer service and great prices. I placed an order, that same day Tom called to tell me that one piece wasn't in stock and asked what I wanted to do. That's what I call excellent customer service.
