Question Having trouble with my cobalt!!!

I recently took off my catalytic converter and have a 3 inch down pipe all the way to the exhaust its been running beautifully and getting much more power!!! I have one problem I can't seem to get the check engine light to go off can I just remove the o2 sensor that was placed after the catalytic converter? Anyways all help is appreciated.[/B]
