highest safe rev limit.

what is the stock '07 rev limiter?

and what is the highest you can safely rev a 2.2 with the stock valvetrain/internals?

i had my car dyno'd and they stopped it at 6300rpm and the power is still climbing, thats why im wondering. from what i hear the stock limiter is 6800 rpm, but the tach lags so i dont know.

edit: i know the power will level out around the stock rev limiter, but i figure with a tune i might get a little more up top. it might be beneficial to bump the limiter a tad

stock internals are rated to 7500 i believe. so i'd say set it to 7100-7200. and be friendly to your engine lol

step1. disable all rev limitations
step2. get a 15k LOGGING tach. make sure you can keep track of the rpms
step3. rev till you blow
step4. rebuild and set redline 100rpms below what you blew at.

7300 ftw you should never hit redline so this should throw your shift to 7000-7100

with stock valve springs (this is the limiter) it is 7500rpm
anything above that you risk valve float with equals valve tap which equals no runny runny

mine is set to 7000 and no problems

all non-VVT ecotecs have the same valvetrain. our stck cam profile kind of limits power a bit. you stop building power at 6300rpms. adjustable cam gears or new cams are needed to make use of a higher rpm
