Intermittent coolant issue

So for quite some time I've been having this issue with my coolant temp sensor just dropping out and coming back. Can't remember the DTC right now, but has this happened to anyone else? I replaced the sensor when it first started happening. Any help/insight would be awesome.

I'll look next time it happens. Just wouldn't have thought of that. On my cluster the coolant temp just comes up as 3 dashes...

Sounds like it has nothing to do with a thermostat. If you replaced the sensor already you probably have a harness issue. Unplugg the temp sensor and make sure the pins are not damaged them trace the wires, pin out the ECM harness, and check the continuity of the wires. Shake the harness around, see if it cuts out.

Sounds like a connector issue to me. Next time it happens push the connector in and see if the dash reads again. If not try pushing on the wires a bit. Sounds like an ittermitant open in the circuit.

hey, I have the same problem, but every time i loose the temp reading i have to reset the check engine then it comes on for a while but doesnt last. Just changed the sensor so should be a harness problem right?

So I know its been awhile. But I just finally not that long ago fixed everything. It turned out it was both a wiring issue and I needed a thermostat. All is good now. Just a double whammy.

I am having the same issue..changed the sensor. Reset and it worked fine for awhile but went back out. But the strange thing is if I turn on a/c, within a few minutes the sensor is working again. Turn off the a/c and it goes back out. Any ideas guys
