K&N Replacement Filter

I don't have a lot of money, and I don't wanna use all my money I make this summer modding my car; I'm a college student and go to a pretty expensive school yada yada yada, you guys don't care. Anyways, I do want to do some cheap and easy mods just because I like doing that kinda crap. I'm going to buy a K&N replacement filter and I know it can improve horsepower/acceleration/fuel economy and all that good ****. My question is, is this improvement noticable, worth it? Also does the sound from the filter also increase? (crossing fingers, yes!) If not, I'm gonna do the airbox mod so it doesnt really matter. Thanks dudes and gals!

From what i hear it is not really noticeable, however it does make a small difference. Not to mention yhou will never need to buy a new filter again, just recharge kits lol.

I noticed a *slight* increase in throttle response. The sound at WOT is amazing though! Mine was only $15 so definitely worth it

It is only a slight increase, but I have one I just replaced with an Injen intake. I'll let it go for $40 shipped. It has less than 1,500 miles on it. I will also give you a brand new filter cleaner that was unused. I got the filter cleaner with my Injen (which I bought used)...it's K&N filter cleaner.

If you mean just the filter itself and not the cold air intake filter, yes you will get a about 2 more HP, maybe 5 with a cold air intake. Ive used just the filters in my 2 of my trucks and my moms car. Actually just adding the filter in my moms car (2005 Impala), made the cars intake louder than my coablt, AND I HAVE A COLD AIR INTAKE!! LOL

i see u have a 2.2. you can do the air box mod to your car, and get rid of the restrictive tubing inside the fender well. that along with a k&n drop in should yield some results. better throttle response and sound.

K&N actually guarantees 15.94HP from their Typhoon intake for the 2.4L.
