i know gm says we have 145 and 155 torque. But do we really have that or is gm over rating the engine?

That's probably very accurate. But, as with all motors, there can be a 5-10 HP variation. But keep in mind, that is the horsepower and torque rated AT THE CRANK, and most cars have a 15-30% power loss to the wheels. So you're probably looking at about 115-120 WHP.

Why would they overrate a 2.2L. Most people buying a base/ls/lt could care less about how much power it has.

thats for every car except for the lsj. the lsj is UNDER rated. i believe they dyno'd it. i heard somewhere for insurance costs, but i'm probably wrong so someone correct me if so. so the lsj is 205 at the wheels, and pretty much every other car is at the crank

His Corolla is probably quite a bit lighter than the Cobalt. Not sure though.

well to a point yes. but when you have a stock 2.2l like he does(cai adds maybe .5hp so dont fool yourself) why race things you know youll get killed by. corolla and other boring ass normal cars are what we should be racing. if its a drivers race its more fun.

well if its a new one itl weigh about the same. but i know the older ones weigh in at 2650 pounds or lighter. soooo thats probably why he won. they are very light cars.

Yes that was most likely to the wheels but a dyno isn't always 100% accurate. Some read high and some read low.

If you ever look at those stock GM power graps, the power fell off hard after about 5500rpms. I believe they were limiting boost or opening the bypass on the engine dyno to control ratings. The stock LSJ powerband is basically a steady climb to 6500.

Pretty much. Same deal with SRT4s, insurance purposes. Dynoed what they advertised at the crank.

What year? That car prolly has around 130HP and weighs LESS at 2500LBS. They're actually pretty peppy cars. He may have you on power/weight?
