Going off what the manufacturers say...

new corolla- 2822 lbs, 132 HP, 128 Torque

new cobalt- 2721 lbs, 155HP, 150 Torque

Those are from toyota.com and chevrolet.com

Based off that I'd say either your buddy is a better driver or you made a mistake.

IDK how the corolla compares to the civic, but my cobalt with CAI and magnaflow (untuned) is significantly quicker than the civic.

Also, IMHO, it's not a race if there's no corners.

I was looking at older models...pretty sure the curb weight was around 2500lbs.

A lsj header/downpipe and 2.4 intake manifold opens up these cars pretty decent for what it is.

If that was his dyno numbers than it would be whp/wtq. GM says 145hp/155tq. So stock depending on auto or 5spd I would say like 120whp give or take and with a few mods 130whp/130wtq seems about right.

so if you had 900 whp and only 50lbs of torque then you'd be straight but what i wanna know is where does the line between hp and tq begin and end. where does hp come in to play vs torque would a 200hp car with 500lbs of torque be shitty or what?

I dont know the answer to that but i always assumed the more torque the better. Hp gives you your max speed but torque is you acceleratrion. So yes you need both but i would think its your own opinion what is better. example a car with 900 hp and 50 torque may have a max speed of say 300mph but takes like 5 min to get up to max speed. Well a car with 200 hp and 500 lbs torque may have a max speed of only 100mph but only takes 1 min to get up to max speed. Thats how i see it anyways. i could be wrong

you're more likely to get road head in a cobalt than a corolla anyway.

99+ cadi, audi, bmw, benz; those will get you road head an back seat sex with any girl at the bar (may come with aids).

Cobalt is for getting your groceries faster then the next soccer mom, or Eco dad with 2 kids.
I had a cadi, but then i got a kid, so now i have a 24,000 mi 06 cobalt.

anyhow, get stage 1 cams and zzp 78 lb springs for a quick 25 hp boost and cheap. if you go stage 2 or 3, get supertech springs or something comparable.

2.4 I/M goes with cam's pretty damn well serving as another 10 hp on the top end, and proven.
nice header, 2.5 in dp, and cat-back to finish your breathing and you will pawn anyone to the store.

Cams and springs are pretty big installs are they not. The rest i could do by myself but i would think it would cost alot to get the cams installed
