loss of compression

so i was gonna trade in the balt for an 06 impreza but my cel was on and they wouldnt take my car till it got fixed. im under warrenty so they took it into the shop. im fully bolted minus 2.4 tb. they told me i only had 40lbs of combustion in cylinders 1 and 4. what could have caused this? since it was under warrenty theyre just dropping in a brand spankin new engine and ive decided to keep it after that lol but i just dont understand how i couldve lost that much compression in those cylinders. any ideas?

Probably a bad tune.

More than likely ran lean and cooked pistons #1 AND #4.

They aren't know for piston issues, but a bad tune can ruin even the best internals.

Many things can cause melting of pistons so dont blame it on thr tune...... ... People need to understand that alot of factor come into play. Fuel pressure. Good plugs. Normal maintance. Bad gas. Over heating. Yea a bad tune can cause it to blow but its not always the place to start.

If your fully bolted and don't have a tune you probably ran lean.
