LSJ Downpipe Installed on 2.2
This is definitely an area 2.2 owners need to be aware of. The SAI equipped 2.2 cars have a different DP than non-SAI 2.2s:
07 Manual Equipped 2.2 non-SAI DP/Cat PN 15873731
07 Auto Equipped 2.2 non-SAI DP/Cat PN 115873732
07 Manual Equipped 2.2 w/SAI DP/Cat PN 15806265 or 25832162
07 Auto Equipped 2.2 w/SAI DP/Cat PN 15806266 or 25832163
I can't even find the reason for the 2 part numbers listed for the SAI 2.2s DPs in the parts book. Both PNs for each show the same RPOs. (L61, M86, NU6) (L61, MN5, NU6) NU6 = SAI
Question now is -- is the SAI manifold longer than the cast manifold? -- if it is then switching to the LSJ manifold could cause the problems I've run across.

SAI DP has 2 cats. Its like one small cat, a gap, then another small cat. I think the smaller dual cats are so they warm up faster and put out better emissions to meet California standards. If I still had my stock cat I'd take a pic but it's gone.
I have a 2006 2.2 auto (with SAI). I had the LSJ cat back then I installed the LSJ DP over a year ago. On my car the LSJ DP is a tight fit but its in there without any rubbing. I will soon (within the next few weeks) be installing an LSJ exhaust manifold. When I get under there to do the manifold I'll definetly get some pics for you.

You should not need to tune out SAI at all. Keep your stock exhaust mani and attach the 2.0dp to it. If you were to replace your header on the other hand you WOULD need to tune out SAI.
You are in Cali, which means emissions testing is a bitch, u will want to avoid removing sai at all costs it appears. was reading the SAI thread to renew my thoughts.
btw, redding is where i'm thinkin about moving in about 2 years after college. i'll be rolling the cobalt down there this summer a couple times. perhaps you'll say hey

Let me knwo when you plan on comming down this summer. Im a fire fighter so im not always arround but if i am we will deff meet up and chill.
Yep. Got the SS Dp in today. Cant really feel any difference. The only thing ive noticed is now my car doesnt pop as much when down shifting to 2nd. But it is a bit louder but didnt change how my exhaust sounds which is good cause i like how it was/is.
You underestimate the sensitivity of my ass dyno.. Lol.. I had a header and a 2.5" catback on before i put on the LSJ DP. So when i freed up that choking point, I could definitely feel a difference at high RPMs
