more power pre-turbo

alrighty then lets get down to business. i've got the upgrade bug now and its bittersweet. having fun with my peformance gains so far but the thrill wont last forever. what type of mods can i look to in the near future that will prep my engine for turbo but also offer up immediate gains? i've talked with halfcent about it once and you have some work done i know, but you are running lower compression right? that hurts your current performance, no? i really dont want to lose power, would rather increase it and wait for my turbo.

Lowering the compression will help with the turbo, but will hurt your n/a performance. You are correct there.

You can increase performance by increasing your compression, but then you won't be able to use as much boost as you would with lower compression pistons.

It's either one or the other. I suggest you keep it the way it is until you actually have the turbo. That way you won't get stuck with low compression pistons if a deal falls through.

Sorry dude, all that intake and exhaust stuff you have bought will all be removed when you do a turbo. Intakes, exhausts, injectors, throttle bodies, anything you try to do to a normally aspirated engine will all have to change when you go forced induction. If you are desparate to spend money, do it on some non-performance related stuff, like appearance, suspension, or audio.

not desparate to spend the money more or less desparate to make it go faster. but i can live with waiting. looks like i will be taking halfcents advise and working on looks then as i wait.

on a side note the garret system will allow me to retain my intake and exhaust. i know your working with hahn but i have faith in the garret turbos.

yea if the exhaust is 2.5in then you wont have to change that, turbo system will only force you to redo the exhaust up to the cat, so a cat-back shouldnt have to be changed. intake will probably need to be removed, or modified. and a lot of other stuff will be pointless after getting a turbo kit. so i say wait also.

why not purchase some supporting turbo mods?

wideband a/f gauge, boost, and EGT gauge, turbo timer...

make sure you have the proper exhaust size (2.5" or 3")

maybe purchase some things that your kit doesn't include that you will need...

Why would you have to change the tb to turbo? You really don't. Actually a larger tb is better with forced induction because you can run larger charge pipes (if you want the top end and alittle more lag) and still see a gain.

I'd think about getting upgrades that will let you use that power. Get rid of wheel hop now, that kinda stuff.

Hey with the dowpipe, Wouldnt they place it same place where stock headers go? normally they do......so I would think buying a corsa or magnaflow would still fit on the turbo....

magnaflows actually sound good on it...

ANY SOUND CLIPS OF THE CORSA? Take off...drive bye? Idle? Inside????

thanks

lightened pulley and flywheel are available. that will free up a couple hidden hp, but not much. i would also upgrade the clutch in advance.

Since you've gotten that increased power and you looking to increase that power in the future... go with mods to compliment that like your handling... Strut tower bar, anti sway bar kit.. springs... Also if your looking for some speed look into ways to shed a little weight off of your car

The turbonator only works on Carbed Engines if at all.

Don't waste your money.
