now...hypothetically....what would happen if you got neutral balance shafts and a lightweight crank oulley. those are both of the vibration dampers.....would the vibes be horrible?

You would feel more vibrations without the balance shafts...don't take my word for it...it states that in the build book.

Jn2 thanks for going through this!

In truth the difference is very small -- and the dyno runs are so close that I'd bet money that if you had simply done 3 pulls without changing anything and waiting for 10-30 minutes between pulls you would see very close graphs similar to those pictured. The pulley slows the alternator and the AC compressor and reduces spinning mass weight so it will provide SOME increase in power. I would venture to say that it could shave a tenth or two on the dragstrip -- at the most. It is another item to put on your wish-list...all the items (exhaust, intake, header, etc) add up when put together.

i know there would be vibrations...im wondering about damage to the engine. I know bad vibrations can be bad for engines, and deleting balance shafts and a lightweight crank pulley is effectively removing the two parts of our motor that cancel out vibrations.

not all engines come with balance shafts..its not a "nessecity" ..as far as vibrations yes they will increase..the shafts help everything stay smooth so that the engine will be more popular with the buying public...some former engines have lost popularity and were discontinued simply cus they were too loud, or made vibrations.

It will work on a S/C cobalt for sure. They produced one for the LSJ, the only difference is the amount of ribs on our pulleys is different between the cars. 2.2 and 2.4 is the same, 2.0 has another rib.

you do not want an under drive pulley with a super charger you will lose boost by spinning the blower slower

FOr a supercharged application I would just go with the lightweight OEM size pulley from MRZ.
