my alternator is making sounds

a few weeks ago there was a sound coming from my serpentine belt area. it only happened for one day then went away. so i changed the serpentine belt just in case. the other night i was coming home and it made the sound again. then it stopped the next morning. could the bearings in the alternator be going?

alternators make noises when they are about to stop working...just have one on hand when it needs changing...good luck too cause it looks as tho these cars are hard to change

the battery light should come on when there is low volts

No there easy to change. 3 bolts 20min tops. your battery light will come on at about 10.8v so if it does that make sure your headlights are off or you wont make it far without any spark.

yeah my battery light came on and off before mine went out. And if i remember correctly, it stayed on like 20 mins before it completely went out. Luckily it died as soon as i entered my neighborhood. I made it home but with all my lights out, and no power steering. Just loosen the belt, remove supercharger and you can change it easily.

Why in the hell would you have to remove the supercharger? You can get at it through the wheel well like your suppose too.

I wasn't aware of that approach. That sounds good too. People were telling me to remove supercharger back when I was doing it.
