it's "header" and not headers. Also, most 06's didn't have SAI (although "some" did). I am unsure how it won't fit? It's the same header with the addition of SAI.

All the headers are the same size...2.0, 2.2, 2.4..they all connect to the block the same.

I doubt he has SAI, he is in FL, so fairly good chance he doesnt have it, but you never know. Look at your stock header, and tell us if there is a small port where a connector is supposed to go in, that will mean you have SAI.

What makes you think that 06 model headers will not fit your car? They should fit fine.

Check for SAI, if you doen't have SAI 05-06 should fit. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/secondary-air-injection-late-production-2006-l61s-38488/

Not all of the 07 have SAI either. It is an option, and there are fewer that don't have it then do.

Didn't some people on here also determine that the '07 2.2 manifold was almost the same as the '06 2.0 S/C manifold? That would explain the HP increase between the '06 2.2 and the '07 2.2.

There wasn't a change to the manifold that I know of. There was a change to the shape of the exhaust ports in the head along with a different exhaust cam profile. But the actual plumbing was unchanging to my knowledge.

I wish the original poster would come back, because I'm guessing he has SAI and just doesn't realize that is the problem.

So if you are reading this, and you now see that is the problem, don't fret. You can still use an aftermarket header by removing the SAI system. Post up again if that is the case and we will direct you to the proper instructions.

First off, there has only been 1 confirmed shop that will remove SAI and they're way up in Maine somewheres..

Second, the SS/SC Exhaust Manifold is the same Manifold on the 07 2.2 (and late 06's). The downpipe may also be the same, but it hasnt been confirmed yet.

The 07's are using the SS/SC casting minus the drill and talp for the 02 sensor, the 02's are both in the DP.

I wasted $50 on the SS/SC manifold when I could have just hand ported mine. Inlet and and collector were measured exactly the same.

in that case it needs to be welded in and its not a direct bolt up

the welding issue is the very reason i've ordered the ss/sc mani. i don't see the gains being that far off anyway considering the rest of my exhaust is 2 1/2 already from the flex pipe back.

go figure gm installs a 2 1/2 flex pipe on a 2 1/4 exhuast....

the one you have is not a direct replacement. it's not missing a piece. you have to cut your downpipe for it to fit. there's nothing else you can do. it fits fine, you just didn't cut the downpipe.

you need to cut, flair, and flange your orig dp or buy a new one designed for it.
