has anybody removed the muffler and just left the cat? pros cons ??
besides state laws

Your neighbors will hate you.

You will get pulled over and ticketed hard within 20 minutes.

A straight-through performance muffler will sound great and won't cause any noticeable restrictions.

So in short, have fun with that.

My friend's SRT-4 has a straight pipe from the cat and he was pulled over once for loud exhuast but the cop let him go because he told him that the car came that way stock. It wasn't really that much louder

i had a straight through performance muffler on my 2.2 for about a month. i hated it, it was so damn loud.

the srt has a turbo it acts as a muffler so to say they sound sick also

but i started my car when i put my cat back on and with it right after the cat it was loud as hell deff get pulled over i doubt no muffler would be that much quiter

with my 91 Cavalier, i cut the muffler off... sounded gutsy and wasn't that loud. The 96 Cavalier sounded like poop as it was an automatic. MY 98 Cavalier sound pretty good with no muffler. Not once was I ever ticketed for not having a muffler. In New York state, the exhaust just has to have the catalytic converter, use the stock hangers and reach all the way to the bumper, or stock termination point. Nowhere did it say that it required a muffler... I even got the car inspected three times like this. It was ghetto, but fun...
