Now in the 124 club

I finally hit the top speed of 124mph last night and it was FUN! But for some reason it felt like it was still pulling when I hit that speed. No rev limiter or anything. What does the car do when you hit the top speed normally?

Sure, only way to tell is get in a big flat straight and try it. But only do it in a safe environment, dont risk lives.

Removing a speed limiter is possible with a tuner like HPT. But stock cars will be limited to the speed you reached.

Due to tires, the stock tires are only rated for so fast.

You should never exceed your speed rating on tires.

Too true. Will you be able to go 120 on tires rated at 106, yes. But when you do, bad things happen. It's not a matter of if, but when

106mph is what the stock tires are rated for.

How are you guys all getting in the teens and 120's as top speeds in your 2.2 Cobalt ? I haven't done it in awhile but when I try to max out it cuts off at 108 . . . everytime. I know for sure I never got close to 120.

hehe Ive seen a few SRT4's trap at that speed in the 1/4 mile

No hating though. just sayin.

and a big X2 to not exceeding your tire speed rating.

very very risky.

My first SS/SC would'nt go past 141, but my new one will peg out the speedo. 160mph and still very smooth, but I do not think the stock speedo is 100% accurate. It is probally a couple mph off, once I get my GPS nav in there I'll know for sure.

1/4 mile vs a long stretch of highway...VERY different
