So today i was driving and i noticed the temp creeping up and the top end getting loud so i pulled over in a flat area and noticed no oil on the dipstick so i double checked that i had no oil and still had no oil so i drove to my buds house to put oil in so i could get some so i could drive home then we checked and it was back up to half, then once i got home it was back up to full... Where the hell is it going? or is there something wrong?

 

Sounds like there is some sludge in the cylinder head, oil gets up into the valve area and has a hard time draining back down.

 

Cringe!!! If you were my good friend I would get upset about this and then make fun of you for some time, but we're not to that point yet.

Like suggested, look under the oil fill cap for any sludge, then pull that valve cover to check the drain back ports

 

Were you on level ground when you checked the oil each time? How long after you shut the engine off did you pull the dipstick or did you check it with the engine running? If I recall correctly checking the oil right after engine was running it will typically read about 1/2 way down from full if full. It takes a while for all the oil to drain back down.

 

First time I checked I just did it with it running every time after that i gave it 15 mins

 

Okay I'll give it a look and see if i can find anything

 

I found a bit of sludge but not much, I'll run some cleaner through the oil once i get it closer to an oil change. I am open for ideas though if you guys have any

 

That's about all you can do. Maybe throw in half a quart of atf a day or two your about to change it.

 

I've seen people say attempting to run cleaner through your engine is generally a bad idea as it can knock large chunks loose that can clog up oil passages.

 

Glad to hear that before I gave it a try, I'll take the valve cover off and see whats under and maybe clean it manually if i can and maybe check valve lash since i'm in there
