ok fineally building the balt

Ok I have a 06 ls turbo I have had all the parts to build it for a while never had a location to do it till recently. So just looking for any tips or advice ppl have to doing it planing on doing pistons, rods,rod bearings timing chain, head gasket and head studs. I'm not pulling the motor so anything that can be don while its still in the car???!!!

IIRC you can actually put in the rods and pistons with the engine still in the car. It's in the GM build book.

I plan on just buying a spare motor so i can keep driving it. Then ill throw a ridiculous pulley on and watch it go boom for fun

orrrr you could sell your stocker for some $$ after you put your built motor in? lol

Doing the same thing as the OP with mine in a couple weeks. I don't have a lift, crane, or engine stand so it's the best option for me.

Its easy to do it in the car. Its not bad at all. Its not hard to pull the motor either. all preference.

it's not impossible to drop the subframe without a lift, I took off the front crash beam so i didn't have to jack it up as high

I've had the subframe out because I changed the clutch about 4 months ago but actually getting the motor out seems like it would be a chore in a tiny garage with just a couple jacks and couple sets of jack stands

that's why i didn't say it's easy lol but it is possible. building this motor is pretty easy tho the timing is dummy proof as well

its not that bad. Ive done it. Just like coner said take the crash beam off get the front as high as you can on jack stands then drop the whole thing out the bottom and roll it out.

This is true lol however what doesn't make sense to me is that once you rotate the motor over the colored links never line up on the marks on the gears again even though it's still in time
