just checked it again the crank is done...theres some groves worn into each side of journal where the rod and cap ride.... so now im up in air on what to do.....lol the gear head in me wants to build a motor but the family man that could use it as a driver wants to just stick a motor from the junk yard in it........ if i did decide to build it what are my options......as far as using this block and things i can do to make internals stronger or using different block etc.....if i would build it i would like to do it on the cheap....i would like to super charge it since that seems to be the easier of the two forced inductions choices...but then again just throwing in a motor and tooling around is so much cheaper hahahaha

That swap would be expensive. Better off building it. The stock motor can handle a mild sc by the way

you can have the crank machined as long as the scratches arent too deep. youll just need to account for the change. itll be cheaper than a rebuild. youre going about it the long way. i got a new motor because i threw a rod through the bottom of the engine and bent the **** outta the oil pickup in the pan. you dont need an l61. i got my motor out of an 08 hhr.

runs great. mpg sucks compared to the old motor, dunno what the issue is. but when i say sucks i mean 32 vs 37 so its still pretty good. but def more power and smoother running. my old motor was pretty noisy since i ran it low on oil frequently. i do have thicker oil in it right now that i used just to break it in. about to change it to whats supposed to be in it so i might get 1-2mpg better. then ive got 150lbs of old heads and oil pans and such in the back so maybe another 1 from that. if i can get back up to 35 ill be happy. i used to get 40-42mpg when i did light hypermiling on the old motor.

si senor. i bought mine from a company i had heard of before and they got it to me quickly and honored the 51$ i bid for it. was 380 shipping which from pennslyvania to tx was reasonable for me on an engine. but then a few weeks afterwards they sent a letter to my friends house demanding another 180$ on shipping because they say they didnt tell me the right amount. i promptly told them to **** off cause im pretty sure asking for more money outside ebay motors is a serious nono.

This thread is a wreck and think it gave me cancer.

Find a engine from something else and swap it in. You don't sound like you know enough or have the money to build an engine.
