I absolutely picked the Garrett kit. The manifold and down pipe adapter are top notch. The turbos are interchangable with other Garrett models, so while the basic kit is a smaller one, your can simple step up to power over 400 HP is you wanted. The SCT LiveWire flash tuning device is purely superior, no question. The charge pipe routing is capable of being installed on either a manual or automatic. The Garrett tune program doesn't support the auto yet, but there are several SCT shops right around me that have the full authority tuning software, so getting it done is possible.

I said that? I don't remember saying that. In fact, I went to SCT's web and made the inquiries about the product as soon as I heard about it. I don't think I would have said something like that.

It the tuning. Alpine is using a piggyback while Garrett is flashing the ECM.

I voted for Alpine as it has a pre-tuned ECU. However, once tuning comes out I'd ditch a pre-made kit for a custom kit as I like to have control over what I do to the car.

There is plenty of research to do out there so anyone with motivation can learn about turbos or superchargers.

To me, I want my power:

A. 0-60
B. Passing/instant hp

And I think that a supercharging kit will do that better than a turbo kit. I might want to try twin charging on a car soon. Haha.

no. A properly setup turbo kit will likely run 60 faster. Throttle response may not be quite as great, but if the turbo is properly sized, it will still respond very quickly.

myself, id get the garrett turbo kit , the basic kit and make my own charge pipes, id definetly go turbo over s/c because of the parasitic loss of the superchargers.. and its alot easier on axles, and transmissions. plus its alot easier to get exactly what you want out of a turbo then a s/c, you can adjust the boost alot simpler

I think nitrous is the best "BANG" for the buck, if you install it correctly and drive the car properly you will have a quick part time car. After warranty is up i am getting a wet-kit and hoping to get some better numbers out of it. good luck

yea a centrifugal supercharger delivers boost completely linear to rpm. So you reach peak boost at whatever you rev to. That way, there is no "shock" to the drivetrain like there is with a turbo or roots.

If I could do my Turbo setup over again on my sunfire, I'd still do a Custom Turbo setup. I personally like having control over what I want for my car and just not some pre-made setup. I have enough knowledge about turbo setups to know what a proper setup includes and I typically know who to go to to help install it. I personally don't know how to weld, so that's one of the reasons why I'd need help.

But if someone doesn't have the means or the knowledge to do a custom turbo setup, they should defenitley go custom.
I have to admit, NJHK does know about turbos. From the little bit that I know about turbos, I can tell you he is right on target. Custom turbo is the way to go if you can do it without lots of probs.

Custom Turbo Kit gave my uncles GS-R Integra right around 400hp. Its one badass car.

yep if you can do it right turbo is ALMOST always the way to go. turbo technology is just getting insane nowadays.
