Pistons for N/A

Now, i have decided that i want to go the N/A route possibly nitrous, and somewhat beable to retain my warrenty. anyways here are my questions.

1. I am going with Comp Cams Stage 2, if i want to go with a higher compression ratio would the cams still work?

2. Going with a Higher Ratio, would i need standalone tuning to compensate?

3. Would i be able to run nitrous with a higher ratio, or would i run into problems?

Or should i just go forged with stock compression ratio?

Thank you all.

yes
yes
and yes

you can run high compression with after market cams fine, but you would need a way to advance/retard ignition timing and possibly tweak your AFR. I would suggest the SMT6, as it does better with timing than the FIC does since the FIC can only retard ignition timing.

realize however, that none of this will retain you warranty...if they see anything after market installed IN the engine, its pretty much void.

you probably COULD stay stock cr since it is already 10:1, but i'd bump it up for an N/A build for sure.

the build book says up to a 11:1 ratio for a N/A application, so thats probably what i would go to.

yeah, but if it really came down to it i could swap oem parts, but chances are with forged internals i wouldnt need to have major work done.

is it just me or does that not make sense? it wouldn't make sense to swap oem parts with oem parts and i agree with everybody that if you do ANY internal work, the warranty is out the window.

guys, why is everyone so hung up on warranty? some people don't care. the guy asked a question, not whether or not he will still have a warranty.

if you detonated a forged piston, i would hope a trained mechanic would be able to tell that you had simply swapped the stockers back in. if not, kudos to you for ripping off GM.

if you are worried about warranty then modding that extensively may not be for you.

getting that deep into it should only be done by people that are able to diagnose and fix problems themselves.

oh im not really worried about the warrenty, i would have never even though about going that route, but my dads kind of weird even though he has nothing to do with the car, his name is no where on it.

but i do have experiance with engines and i do know what i am doing in most areas, ive been at this for a few years now.

Thank you all.
You will need to run Higher Octane gas. If you use adjustable cam gears you may be able to get away without tuning. Yes you can still run nitrous. The weak point is the Foam Cast Head, I would run a 50 if it was me running at 11:1, but no more.

i figured i wouldnt want to go big because of the Higher CR, and i know i will need to run higher octane to reduce the chance of detonation
