Pnp throttle body. Choked upon start

So I have this throttle body I bought on here. I have a 2009. This throttle body looks significantly different than mine and it even has the butterfly valve in the opposite way of mine. Don't know what this means. Could it possibly be that it's from a different year so it won't work?

As soon as it started up it was really loud for a split second and then died down and turned off. I put the old throttle body back on and she runs normal again. I just wanna know if I can use this throttle body.

That looks like a 2005-2006 throttle body to me. Do you have the adapter for your 2007+ wiring harness? Because if not you can't run it. Also you generally can't run a bigger throttle body without a tune. The throttle body scalar and idle airflow needs to be tweaked. There are some exceptions. I ran a 2010 TB from a 2.4 on my 08 and didn't have any problems for the year I ran it that way. It also needs to be synced so the computer knows where closed throttle is. Anyone with HPT scanner can do this (It's called "throttle body cleaned reset.")

I have the 6-8pin harness. I think what you are saying is what's wrong with it. I'll just sell this one and say **** it. I'm gonna buy a lsj throttle body because I wanna piece a supercharger kit together. Not worth the hassle of finding someone with hptuners

Did you unplug the battery for anywhere between 10-30 minutes?

I unplugged the battery for the time I took off the throttle body and put the new one on.

The pins on an 8 pin 2.4 tb and an 8 pin lsj tb are different. I'm pretty sure zzp's connectors the 8 pin side is designed for the LSJ so even though you bought the connector you would need to re pin it to make it work right.

Damn well, i might be selling an engine block I have this Saturday and I'll be able to buy a supercharger from mongo after I do that and then I can buy an lsj throttle body with this next paycheck. And just part after part until it's ready to be built. Selling the 05-06 2.2 throttle body as well if someone will buy it and I'm keeping the adapter for the lsj throttle body.

well I wanted to build the engine block and put it in a camaro (as something fun to do and have a fast car) but then I figured I can't afford to buy all the engine parts/transmission and a frame for the 350. I wanted to make it a 383 stroker but I just saw my funds running short every time I calculated it. But when I figured out about supercharging my car through people on here and being able to buy good quality used parts through here (thanks cobaltss) I will be able to have a fun and good looking car. I'm not trying to be the fastest out there because there will always be someone faster but I want to be fast and supercharing was the cheapest way.

I know! I'm so glad I found this website! I just got my car in February and boosting it would be awesome. Everyone is so helpful on here too so that's a plus. I'm actually excited that I'm now getting closer to being able to supercharge my car.

Yea just recently. Its running on a can drive tune right now so It craps its pants when it goes into boost so i have to stay out of it. Tune stuff should be straightened out in a few weeks.

I keep reading about people having crap tunes and running to lean. Is it really that hard for a person to do a good tune on a cobalt? Or are you figuring out tuning yourself?

A buddy of mine tried it and it was way too different compared to what he was used to so I went with an experienced tuner. Found out there was a pretty hardcore vacuum leak and just got that fixed earlier this week so the first tune should be flashed back on tomorrow or so. If i ever tried it by myself it would take years for me to figure it out since I have no experience with HP lol. Best to save the headache and go with someone who knows what they are doing.

Are you running your E37 from the 2.2 or did you swap with an SC computer?
