Pros of NA Build?
Pros of NA Build?
are there any pros of going n/a over supercharging? Since ZZP is coming out with this kit, I figure the gains will probably bring the 2.2 up to 205,210 hp meanwhile fully bolted and cammed will be 185ish. So yeah any pros of n/a?
i would say a K24/K20 build isnt a complete waste. as far as NA 4 cylinders, thats the only one i really respect (other than all out ridiculous builds)
To get significantly past 185hp in a 2.2 you MUST have head work, you should have higher compression, and you need to get rid of the restrictions on the engine, and since noone has parts to do that available over the counter, or for under say a couple hundred dollars, its highly unlikely we'll see the tru potential of the 2.2 (IMO its about 215 on stock CR) I am still debating on undertaking a solid NA build or not myself. But like everyone else that has attempted it or even thought about it cost is the factor. If it wasnt my daily driver I could justify the expense, just the personal accomplishment would be worth it. But the sacrifice in drivability on a 250hp NA build like Id want is hard to justify.
5 grand into a solid turbo setup with all the supporting mods (assuming you can do it yourself) and make nice power, or twice as much to hit maybe 200whp.... If you have money to blow, an na build woiuld be cool, but it will not be anywhere near as easy, cheap, or efficient as a fi build. Basically the only advantage would be to say you have the fastest and most hp na build on the site.... but not worth it to be bragging about 200whp, or slightly more.
Honestly I just think that Honda engines are just like any other engine. Except its like having cams after 4000+ rpms. Whoopie... Why not just install aftermarket cams? V-tec is only for performance when you want it and fuel economy when you dont. I'm not bashing though. I think v-tec is a cool technology just not as "magical" as some of the fanbois seem to think it is.

I mean a K24 block and a K20 head... OEM parts, not aftermarket heads or cams or anything. Thats at the wheels too. My friend had a K24/K20 build with an intake and header and dynoed 250whp.
hate to bring up a dead topic.
but....hunter is right. there was a little known article back in the day which did the k24 block with a k20 type r variant head. The results were astonishing.
only problem i have with honda is.....they got spendy. 5g's for a good motor swap? better come with 100 free dinners to denny's lol.
