Question to 2.2 owners...

For those of you that own the 2.2 litre, and have put the ss/sc downpipe on your car, did you start out with two oxygen sensors on the stock 2.2 downpipe? One before and one after the cat? I bought a ss/sc downpipe from one of the kansas city guys, and I only see one oxygen sensor bung on the downpipe, but mine looks like it has two. Anything helps. Thanks!

i see that......but what i am asking is if the other 2.2 guys also have 2 o2 sensors on the stock 2.2 downpipe. just wanting to check with people that have done this with their ls or lt models before i go get another o2 bung welded into place. thanks for the quick response though.

What year is yours, they may have changed placement by year, my 06 has one on th emanifold and one after the cat on the DP.

Edit, just noticed it is an 08. If I remember right you should have two on your DP, to make it work you will need another bung welded.

there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to different parts on the cobalts. some have 2, some don't, some have 3. it's very hard to change parts on the cobalt without actually looking first to make sure they will fit.

If you really feel like trying it you could get a SS manifold and screw the precat o2 into it but I am not sure how your ecu would react since it is calibrated for that distance.

yes, the 2.2 has both the oxygen sensors in the downpipe. the lsj has the rear in the downpipe and the pre-cat one in the manifold. you can easily go to an exhaust shop and have a o2 bung welded into the downpipe, or pick up the lsj manifold. 07 had the lsj style manifold but, like i mentioned, did not have the oxygen sensor in the manifold. so if you dont already have the lsj manifold, it may be cheaper and better just to get the o2 bung and weld it in (if you have 07, and i guess 08 probably have the same).
