Whistle in the engine -Help-

A couple of weeks ago, I started noticing a whistling sound coming from the engine when I went WOT. I can't figure out what it could be, so took it to the dealership to look at it.

Later that day they called me and told me it was the stock air filter that was so dirty that it was making a whistle. I didn't really believe them, but I thought, what the hell, I'll just use this as an excuse to get a K&N intake and filter and see if it fixes it.

I installed it and just like before, I can hear a faint whistle when I punch it.

I'm not beating on the car too much, I never race it, so I doubt I've pushed it too hard.

Any suggestions? I'm going to take it back to the dealership and tell them to fix it if I can't do it myself.

Mine did it when I was all stock between 5k-redline. it probably still does but I cant hear it over the exhaust, I could tell it was with the intake though.

could be a leak in your exhaust header gasket

also after looking at your sig. if you're going turbo don't buy the zzp header/ dp combo.. it's just a waste of money since you wont be able to use it after you're turbo'd

could be a number of things, i know my whistles if i i have the throttle pushed in at about 3/4 throttle, but after that it wont, might that be it? as far as WOT only, not to sure, especially since its at high RPMs, check for vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks u would notice, they are anoying and r loud, tighten everything on your intake, make sure the 10 nuts on the exhaust mani r tight, and the 3 on the collector, and the 2 on the catback

Yeah, I'm going to tighten everything up, hopefully that's all it is.

And yeah, I forgot the hahn kit comes with the header/dp. I'll change that.

i get the same thing, it comes from the engine bay so its on the intake side not exhaust. but its between like 4k and redline. im almost positive its just the sound of the air rushing through all the piping and the butterfly in the TB

Yup mine does it to and I actually figured out where it was coming from. Where the stock air box and the silencer meet up it doesn't exactly have the best seal so when you're at WOT air gets sucked it through that little leak it has and makes that whistling noise. Ha Ha I disconnected the silencer from the air box and you should hear the damn thing now it screams. Sounds like I have an intake on it.

I have an intake, so that's not it.

I never heard it before like a month ago, but if you guys say so.

im nearly 100% positive it is with the serpentine pulleys or belt. its coming from something over there, a/c clutch, alternator, idler, some pulley, maybe just the belt, but its got to be one of those. ive heard the noise without wot, and noise has remained same tone after the injen intake, so that definitely means its not intake wise.

I noticed it when i put in my K&N filter. Just figured it was the the air box sucking in air at mid to high RPM.
