Anyways, i am interested in giving it some more juice to the pedal. is ttheere any starter Mods that you guys can help me out with. Whats the best way and hey safest way to bolt on to my car to give it the better performance. What can i do, (bolt-ons) to my cobalt in order to get the best pertformance that i can with the least amount of money?? I want to do the right things to it but i dont want to make it sound like all these other rice boys out there, i just wanna spank them incrediblly hard. hey welcome to the site! i think the best cheapest bolt ons are the obvious ones, go for an intake and full exhaust (headers, DP included) i think those alone will give u a pretty nice boost, if u want to maintain warranty as well GM has a few performance goodies you should check out!

Welcome to the site! Check this thread out for all the aftermarket parts for the 2.2L: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/aftermarket-l61-cobalt-parts-27680/

I would also suggest getting better tires. Since you have an '07, I think you can also get some tuning done (different computer than the '05 and '06)

Also, if you want better handling, you should look into getting different springs as well as getting a front strut tower bar and/or rear progress sway bar.

Again, welcome!

if your seriouse about modding dont look for the cheapest mods...there is no such thing as a cheap bolt on that will improve performance by a whole lot...save your money and buy good parts.. IMO..

X2. You pay for what you get. So dont be makin' any intakes out of dryer vent tubing and electrical taping an APC filter to it.

Exhaust should really be the first thing on the list. Factory specs call for 2 psi at 2000 rpms before the converter. Idealy you want 0 for best performance, a new 2.5" down tube and catback should be a great start.

Hey thanks everyone for the invite....i just dont know what to do yet. im tryin to save some money so i can start beefing my cobalt up. Is there any computer chip to get that overthrows the computer and boosts it up that way?? also have you guys heard of turbocharging your cobalt???not supercharging...but turbocharging...they say it dosent void your warrenty and plus its 10 times safer for your car...meaning it dosent hurt your car as much and you dont have to break into anything serious. apparently its a couple hour process. But anways whats the best parts to get.. Is the Kand N air filter worth 40$$? does it save on gas at all?? anyone selling any wheels/rims for their cobalt?? thanks guys

Your OBDII computers doesn't have an removable PROM chip.

Boost is a matter of raising cylinder pressure above atmospheric pressure...it's a physical process which is why they have superchargers and turbochargers. They are devices that have a way to create a high amount of pressure in the intake air stream and raise the cylinder pressure. Higher the pressure, the denser, the more air molecules and the more fuel you can spray. It's a bit more of a process than you might think.

You also shouldn't think in the state of mind of what is "best". It all depends on the car owner and what their aiming for from the car.

If you want more turbocharging help, let me know and I can point you to some write ups I made for people to understand the process easier.

or you can PM me. Good luck.

2 psi of what? I'm sorry but I don't understand what you're talking about...

Cmeccia: Welcome to the site!
Garrett turbo just put out a turbo kit for the 2.2 cobalt - check out the L61 Turbo thread. Since it is brand new, no one has tried it yet. There are some people who are building up their own turbo install this winter, but no one has come on here with real proof of a turbo.

The turbo with intercooler is about $3k, so its a bit of saving you may have to do. If you are just looking to add a few extra things without going turbo, I suggest (as others have) intake, header, new exhaust. There are good sportline springs and 2 or 3 strut bars you can get to give you better handling.

DO NOT buy any chip from ebay. None of them actually work, and they just steal your money.

Well, I for one still love your intake! It makes my GMPP intake with functional hood scoop look so...so...FACTORY! Nothing looks as custom-built as YOUR intake!
