rear drum question
rear drum question
sooo, my back right drum has been making a loud squeak noise right when i let OFF the brake, but it dosent make any noises when im coming to a stop. I went to the shop to get it fixed and they adjusted them, and it stopped. then not even a day later it started again....
any ideas? I plan on going back to the shop tomorrow to see what they say.

It is because everything is pressed against the backing plate and it is rubbing, go to your favorite auto parts store and ask for "brake grease". Jack the car up, remove the wheel, remove the drum(it pops off) and have someone press the brake repeatedly until you identify the source of the sound. Grease the backing platehave them press it more to make sure you put it in the right place. Then put everything back on. If the drum doesnt want to go back on it is because of your starwheel adjuster, just crank it back down till you can get the drum back on. With it back on the ground pull your e-brake up and down a few times and it will crank your starwheel adjuster back to where it needs to be.
