Ok, So I have read a ton of threads on this but they all seem older. My car has SAI on it and I want to upgrade I/H/E. I know it has no effect on exhaust and that K&N has an Intake that fits. Is there any other Intakes out there? and has someone created a compatible header yet? This SAI **** is pissing me off, and I have barely started doing anything.

Anybody?

SAI stands for Secondary Air Injection.

Correct on that K&N makes the only intake I know of. Might wanna talk to Tom at Crate Engine Depot and see if the new GMPP exhaust manifold accept the air injection.

Yea I talked to CED last night and they don't have anything. GM doesn't even offer an intake compatible.

I'm kind of new to cobalts, but after looking at the SAI topics, wouldn't it be possible to just attach a breather to the end of the tube that goes from the old airbox to the exhaust manifold? Seems like it's sort of a relation to the AIR pump on some vehicles that draws fresh air straight into the catalytic converter.

I've actually just come up with the crazy Idea of finding a company that will Extrude Hone a part you give them. I am getting price quotes as we speak. I've seen one company that claimed to do a 4 cylinder intake on a cross fire for $165

Might be an option for us with the SAI.

I am making calls and sending e-mails. I am almost thinking that if I can find a stock header from a salvage yard and then send it out to get honed, it could be a solution. I donno, guess we will have to see... Why doesn't anyone, especially GM, make something for us?

It is the later year 2006, if you look at your exhaust manifold and between runners 2 and 3 you see a solonoid type part, you have the air injection or EGR thingy

Pardon my possible pompousness regarding the issue, but I remember back when I had my Trans Am that the only difference between "race" headers and emissions friendly headers was the EGR provision, which simply was a flange welded onto a small tube that went into one of the primaries. Couldn't this be done for an SAI flange, or even onto a primary? Or that doesn't work...?

Yea Navy. I think a few people have thought about this. I am still frustrated by GM not including an aftermarket manifold for us. I just spoke with Donna from CA and she said that I may be able to set up an appointment to have them take a look at it and possibly fabricate something. I have also been looking at finding a stock header from a salvage yard and having it Extrude Honed... Basically just taking the stock header and doing the same thing GM does with there GMPP header. Also gotta figure that if a dealer opens up my hood they wont see anything to set them off, whereas if I go custom made it won't be a GM part

the flow for the sai goes all around ALL of the outlets. i'm sure something could be fabbed, but for a diy'er it would be a royal pain in the ass.
