Saturn Ion 2.2

Do the Cobalt 2.2 parts (exhaust, intake, etc.) fit on the Ion 2.2?

I know they're the same engine and built on the same body.

I think I might get an Ion because of their great lease deal goin on.

Well, I dont' know, you'd have to check. Because I know some of the SS/SC and Redline parts are NOT interchangeable (intake is one, can't remember if there's an issue with the exhaust or not). I would double check before you commit to anything.

I checked gmaccessories.net but they do not list Saturn as one of the companies? wierd.

Where do most people get their aftermarket parts? I'm looking to get CAI, full exhaust w/ manifold, then do brakes and rotors, and then lowered suspension.

From after market companies,

Magnaflow
Flow Master
K&N
Eibach
Airaid
Borla
COMP
the 10,000 other well know companies out there.

You can find just about anything that you could ever want (except for tuning)

and don't worry, most of the parts that you need or will probably buy are specific to the Ion.

the only thing I can think of off the top of my head from a Cobalt that you could possibly want that weren't designed for the Ion are Koni struts and....actually thats all I can think of.

just buy it.

while your on topics about saturns i have a question. maybe someone can help e here. my friend has a 96 sl2 and it has the 1.9 in it which is prettty soon going to fall on its face. the car is in good shape and we found a demolished 03 ion. would it be posible to swap out the 2.2 engine and trans from the ion and put it into the sl2? we can get the entire car for 600 bucks. so we will have the full harness and whatever else we need. how hard would it be to do this if it is possible? any info would be great. thanks

it would be alot of work to pull it off, but the car would be pretty damn fast. the sl cars are much lighter than the ions.
