Scared to drive in rain, sick of it..

Okay, so I never hear anyone else on here with a CAI, have the problem of their car sputtering when it rains. We all know, on a 2.2L, the filter for the CAI sits right behind the passenger headlight. When I leave my car in any sort of rain for more than 30 minutes, the filter gets wet. I have this annoying ass gap between my fascia and my headlight, this might be why, but how do I fix this..

I never hear anyone else with a 2.2L with this problem?

purchase a hydroshield for your filter .... injen sells them. you wont have to worry about your filter getting soaked ever again.

If you have a gap why dont you try putting something there to fill it? That may be your culpret right there...

Well, my buddy's G5 is like that too, I was told it's how they all are. There is a small gap between the bottom of the headlight and the part where it is supposed to meet the fascia.

Well I have the Injen dry-flow one, where they paired up with Amsoil. Can I just oil it anyway?

Every single person I know with a Cobalt/G5 has the headlight fascia gap.. water can easily get in there.

Hydroshield and oiled filter FTW. My cai is on the opposite side now with the sc, but with the gap under my headlight AND a gap in my fender liner in the wheel well due to the 3" intake, I've still had no issues with heavy rain driving.

**** my car. Leave it in the rain for about 30 minutes, even lighter rain, and you're doomed for failure.

The water just gets in between that gap and chills on the filter.

Nothing wrong with a dryflow filter at all.

If it concerns you OP, just get a hydroshield.

Sure there's nothing wrong with it. Just won't make as much power w/ a dry-flow and you're wasting money on crap like "Hydroshields" because they don't work well with water. Oiled filter is just the better choice...

Any sources to back that up.

I feel no difference between my dryflow and the injen filter that came with it.

you can adjust the braket that holds the headlight to move the light up and close up that hole there

Most CAI's are setup in a way to make it practically impossible for rainwater to get sucked into the intake manifold through the intake. You would have to literally drive in very high water and submerse the actual filter for that to occur.
