i'd have to imagine you would. All they really do is look under your car to see if you have 1 cat. As long as it doesn't throw a cel ur golden

This completely depends upon your individual state laws. SAI is a result of California and New York emission laws (some other states too). Here in Illinois for instance, they run your car on a dyno with an O2 sensor stuck in your tail pipe and actually measure it directly. As long as it's within limits, your fine.

if you were to put a breather filter over the SAI intake tube, would that in any way effect your emissions? could the inspector fail you for doin this?

So it is better not to have this - correct?? this gives more options for intake and exhaust?? I just ran out side and checked mine - cause its an 06 - and mine does not have this. Does this also mean that I will only have one cat??

weather you have one cat or two doesn't really make a difference, instead of 1 cat doing both jobs, they split it into 2.

but yes, you have more options on Intakes and Exhaust Manifolds.

I was thinking about the SAI removal and I was wondering, since we're changing the RPO code, say a GM Tech went to pull up some kind of service info for the car. IDK why they'd have to service exhaust/cat I'm just thinking theoretically. Would their service info and diagrams have the info for SAI or would it just show the 1 cat set up?

The parts manual would give you the proper part for the original equipment installed on the VIN.

Yea, Josh warned me on this that say a dealer had to do a reflash, they would reflash to the code that is designated to my vin and would then be changing my tire size and reactivating SAI.

Oh man, that sucks. Then if SAI is removed it'll throw a code and the dealer will be like WTF and that might be a problem.

yea basically. Josh told me to just bring it back to him if it ever happens. so you would just have to bring it back to whoever flashed it out. its no different than having a custom tune on 2.4 and then getting a dealer reflash and then just having to re-tune

You misunderstand.

If you remove the hardware and not the software, then yes, you will obviously throw a code.

OrangeBalt removed both, so he should not throw any code related to that.

All he is saying is if the dealer for some reason had to reflash your car as part of a completely different repair, then you would end up with the old software again. Unless you have some reason to be reflashed, this should never happen.

No I understood. Once the SAI software is removed the hardware can be left sitting there useless or removed it doesn't matter. However if it is removed and then the dealer reflashes me to the origional settings then when the car starts the SAI system will be missing and will throw a code.
