Sh**ts and giggles. Top mount intercooler?????

Im a rally fan, and would love to save up for a ZZP turbo. This Gentelmen's Jacks got me thinkin bout a top mount intercooler and how cool that would be. Cool hood scoop and all. It would be unique. I realize it wouldn't be as efficent as the front mount but what about the badass factor

It would have reduced lag with the consequence of heat soaking while sitting in traffic. If you have a good scoop that will go away pretty quickly once you start moving again though. If you're serious about it go to the subaru forums and do some research.

You could probably use it for supplemental cooling. I woudn't use it to completely replace the standard front mount though due to balt21's point.

I don't see any hood fitted for a top mount looking good.

You'd need a custom hood, custom charge pipping, custom tmic and mounts. Would it work? yes. would it be cool? I suppose it could. is it practical? not for a DD what so ever because of the fab work to make it work. Will it cool well? sure; tmic's work, and yes they do heat soak while the car is not moving but the fmic do as well, just not nearly as bad. Once the car is in a forward motion and theres airflow over the tmic it does fairly well.

If you did the hood right it could be neat. but I have doubts to anyone making a good looking hood for it.

Every car heat soaks at a stand still. That is a moot point.

The world runs on innovation and trialing. Do it and see

nasiac<---Research and decide. If we could do it with a decent hoodline I would give it a try. Not like it would really hurt anything.
