ive heard that the first time the speedo goes over 100 it sets the governor. my first time over 100 i did 115 or so in my 07 LS 5 speed being stock, havent really gone that fast lately so i dont know if it changed at all. not sure if what i heard is completely true, but sounds like it could be.........

Whoever told you that should really do some research. It is set by the factory based on the tires. There was a thread about it on here when I first joined about it.

I hit 840 mph in my cobalt. GPS confirmed. Yeah thats not a typo. 840.

Tom(NWAE Cobalt) hit about 186mph on the dyno once. i'd say @ 7500rpms in 5th you could peg 190mph. key is the air resistance.....since there was no air pressure to fight the acceleration, you can achieve speeds on a dyno you'd never hit in the real world.

fastest i saw on the stock tune was 107...now i have seen 140+mph...i know i stopped looking at the cluster at 140 though, going to fast to take my eyes of the track in front of me :p but i was in 5th gear running like 19psi that day....

no, i have a heat exchanger now, i made a thread the same day i installed it its been pretty cold here in texas, we saw a few days in the 20's, which is pretty rare here



ignore the white styrofoam, i lost the stock one, so i had to improvise

pre tune my cobalt hit limiter at 108ish.

after tune ive gotten it to 115 but decided to give up. lol.

not the best idea on the Turnpike. lol

Cool

let me start off with I love my cobalt... but my vote is something was wrong with the prelude. my roomate had a '99 with nothing more than a CAI and it would easily smoke my 2.2 cobalt, that or you definitely weren't racing a 2.2, or at least not a stock one. PLUS we had his prelude at 145+ without it hitting any govs.

i had my 06 ls with absolutely no tune done at 105. it didnt shut off but i didnt really wanna test it, i was on the highway in the middle of no where.
