actually no it wont be functional

narrowband a/f gauges aren't even accurate and they just look like a light show when they're on. there is a reason why your friend is getting rid of it...

if theres no need for them why get some? take the guage for free and then sell it, thats what I'd do...

You are probably 100% correct. People were probably bringing their cars in for warranty work, thinking something was wrong when the Volts gauge was a little lower than normal, just because they were driving with the headlights, defroster, and heater fan on. Ford solved this problem by equipping their cars with fake gauges (ever noticed how the oil pressure and volts on a Ford gauge always go right to dead-center of the gauge and never, ever move?). They are little more than on-off switches.

I always preferred the "real" gauges GM used, and would like to have them in this car.
