Throttle Bodies ?
it says for saturn ion, but what does the ion have? a 2.2 ECOTEC!!!! OMG
it should work... its the same exact engine
But they might do it for the pre-2005 model ions which I believe were drive by wire, not electronic. If this is true, there is that possibility of them being completely different throttle bodies. As far as the bolts or how many bolts they use for the throttle body they use, that could make a difference. Yeah, I'm lacking info but I'm just pointing out that between the years there were many differences external of the engine even though they are essentially the same L61 engines.
To the original poster,
I wouldn't focus on the throttle body as far as the volume of air, I would focus more on drawing more air into your engine instead of worrying about the volume of air. Boring a throttle body a good amount is going to result in a lack of air intake velocity and it will shift your powerband upwards. Might gain you horsepower but you'd also lose torque in the process cause of the powerband shifting.
The biggest item of drawing more air of course is going to be your camshafts (as far as the cylinder head goes). The longer you can keep the valves open, the more air that can be sucked in and with a strong velocity of air being created.
It's a balance of velocity and mass that you want to keep balanced.
Overall, in my opinion, you don't need to upgrade your throttle body. If you wanted to, any good machine shop can do it for you and fit it with a new butterfly. You more than likely have an 56 MM throttle body, this is a good size for your setup assuming you haven't done any type of modifications that wasn't internal of the engine.
One last thing...along side of drawing more air into the combustion chamber, you need to start worrying about sufficient amount of fuel to be sprayed as well. Remember, it's not the air that gives you power, it's the fuel and the ignition from the spark and fuel combination creating force on the top of your piston. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Its good you "think", but you havent acctualy researched like I have. And seeing as they could sell a TB (even if it didnt fit) they told me definitevly it will not fit.
