SS S/C on the other hand... try 145 lol. Doesn't even feel like it's going that fast. I almost shat myself when I looked down and saw the speedo.
thats nice and all but when you can do that in a corvette in half the time off the ss sc, i think its alittle more rewarding

See HACK there are 2.2 balts out there that for some reason can get into the 15's with little work. First off the newer the car, the better it will run. and for those who don't think so the 05 06 and 07 are all rated slightly differently in horse and tq. i believe it goes from 05-143hp 06-145hp and the 07 has 148hp. and not all cars are the same some even with exact mods one will be faster than the other. ill just have to let you know what my auto does when and if i get it to a track. id almost guarantee that it will do a 16.0-16.2 with my mods now.

to my furthest knowledge my friend, you are correct. the speedo doesnt really KNOW how fast you are going, it just calculates it using the engine speed and which gear you are in. well thats what i think? anyway if you get a bigger tire/wheel assembly my friends (since the stockers with the hubcaps are ****** PUNY, i hate them) then your tires will be covering more ground per rotation, but your speedo does not know that since the engine, transmission, and drivshaft are all rotating at the same speed as they would be with the smaller tires. so when it says your going 115, you could be going way over, depending on the size of the wheel.

weirdest case is that the speedo measure tire rotation, but even at that, a bigger tire/wheel assembly would still work around it. and i doubt it works like that.

only problem is, you dont actually know how fast you are going lol

you wont be going way over. going from a 15" to a 18" is only a little bit over a 3% difference in speed. at 115mph that is like 3.5 mph difference. not that big of a deal.

doesnt work...we have swapped a 140mph set of gauges into a 120 car...they are interchangable and have no effect on your speed limiter...tested...
im not talking about swapping the cluster. im talking about getting their vin number and uploading that pcm info into my pcm

You wont necessarily be going faster either cause i went from stock 15s to aftermarket 17s and i used my boosses gps to check how fast i was going and my speedo hit the fuel cutoff at 105 but the gps said i was only doing 103. There are also numerous tire size calculators that will let you know exactly how much faster or slower you will be after changing tires.

I think the fastest I have had my Cobalt is 95. Anything above that is reckless and stupid IMO.

i understand how you are looking at it. what you're saying is if you go to like 1010tires.com or something and say you want an 18" rim for the cobalt ls. this will simply give u an 18" rim with a tire that is as close to stock as possible, in our case 195/60/15. but if you have ever been beside an SS N/A like i have with my friends, his tires and wheels are way bigger than mine. i dont mean the rim in bigger (me 15" and him 17'") but the TIRE itself is a lot taller and wider (so bigger circumfrance). im sure his tires covers more than 3% more distance than mine.

get what im sayin?

ill check what the ###/##/## are for his tire next time i see him, or if anyone with a stock SS N/A could post it that would be great

115mph for 10 miles, my governor held me it gets really boring around here
my Grand AM GT did 150mph easy in about 1/2 a mile i want to say, but that engine was built.

Elaborate, please? I work for a GM dealer, and own a 2007 1SS coupe. I haven't heard about this reflash though...anything more you can tell me would be appreciated

my BASE 2.2 can bury the 120 speedo and go way past it in 4th gear and still keep on going.....not all the cars will have the same limiter and some wont even have it.....like mine....and my ecu is untouched
