I think that the stock stall speed is between 2,500 and 3,000, so thats gona make ZERO differance.

I would consider 3,500 or higher a viable option which that one is not.

Stock stall isnt that high. the average hipo converter for the 4t40/5 is about 3000rpm, higher than that and you start to sacrifice drivabilit significantly.

Thats a good price, because a good converter goes for around five hundy, but thats for a good converter, I dont know what that unit is like

Then what is the stock stall speed if it isn't that high? I don't want to boil my tranny fluid to find out...

When I have mashed it in the past, my RPMs will climb quickly to 3,000, then sit there for a second then start to climb again. The car would continue to accelerate throught this pause in RPM. There is no shudder, no wheel hop. This is why I stated 2,500 to 3,000.

How is "tranny part" a gross title? He is asking about a torque converter which is part of the transmission, so how is that mis-leading???

You got me stumped

Your desribing "flash" stall. This is always higher than actual stall, from what Ive seen stall usually takes place on stock converters anywhere from just off idle to a max point of about 80% of engine torque, which on the L61 is somewhere in the 1400-2000 rpm area. I unfortunately dont have exact numbers, but I can say from experience that a 3k stall TC will make a noticeable difference, so its obviously higher than stock. If Ihad to guess Id say stock is like 1800-2000

So, to show what the true stall is, do I have to hold the breaks and gas and wherever the rpms stop climbing is the true stall?

I think the stock stall for our transmissions is 1250 RPM. The engine might rev up more with the brake pushed in but you also notice how much torque is building up behind it. I've heard if you want to test your stall speed simply go up an incline on a hill and stop let off the brake and you will notice the car starting to roll back even though its in drive. Slowly push the gas pedal until the car stops rolling back. I've done the brake torquing and my car will start to build torque against the brakes at between 1250 and 1300 RPM.

Thats all I wanted to know, that converter would be an upgrade, for stall speed anyway.
