tune question?

i have a l61 2.2 liter that is completely stock.

1) how much extra power can i expect (if any) with a good tune from trifecta

2) will i get better gas mileage?

thanks

bump

If you don't have any mods, don't bother. Even if you had just an intake and catback I still wouldn't bother.

so i wouldnt really get any performance out of it?

i mean if i only got a 5-10 hp it would be worth it to me cuz the tune is only like 300 bucks and better gas mileage would be another plus.

come on guys tell me what you think?

Gas mileage would come more from the exhaust and intake with the tune, not just the tune itself.

Nope.

Still wouldn't be worth it. 300 bucks for minimum gain and mileage is *****.

I would only get a tune for stuff like a turbo or blower or for bolt ons that alter the powerband like headers or the 2.4L intake mani.

Sorry if I'm hijacking, but I wanted to know something similar....I talked to Vince via email about it and it's really up to the consumer...if you want to spend the money, it doesn't hurt anything...that's for sure.

I'm looking at Injen SRI (maybe converting it to CAI), ZZP midlength header/dp, LSJ cat-back and adding the tune. My main goal is better fuel economy. I don't mind the extra power I would get out of all of the mods/tune, but mainly MPG is what I'm after. All be it there wouldn't be a big enough increase in MPG's to justify it for most people, but I can average 28 combined with my auto(only averaging 24-26 because of my foot at the moment, but I have done 28 plus) right now stock (K&N drop-in and removed intake resonator)...If I can get that to 31+, then I think it's worth it for me. I'm at 112whp and 111wtq right now and if I can see at least 20hp and tq from these mods as well, then I'm happy (whether that hp be at the crank or to the wheels I don't know...would hope for more, but can't ask for too much I guess).

I don't want to waste any money on the 2.4L intake manifold or some of the other things right now as I know they won't help fuel economy, only power produced.

I'm trying to justify a tune right now so that later, if I go SC, I can retune for cheaper hopefully? I haven't discussed that part with Vince yet, but hopefully I wouldn't have to pay for a whole second tune.

Does this seem worth it to anyone? I think it's worth it to me, but does anybody else think so?

i disagree with the folks saying not to tune. while yes it's more cost effective the more mods you have, it is definitely worth it right off the bat even.
